Read this autobiography of a Japanese-American born in Seattle around 1920. It's a terrific insight into Japanese-American families of that time, a interesting and affectionate history of Seattle and a eye-opening account of what happened to Japanese families living in America after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. It touches on the difficulty and beauty of blending a culture of family that is different from the culture of the majority in which one lives. Personally, it helped give me more insight and remember different things that were tucked away about my own upbringing and some of the special things that made my mom unique, being a Japanese woman in America. It's an easy and enjoyable read.
