truth-teller

A few days ago or so, we had an incident where Luca said that Tizzy did something that we think he didn't do. We weren't really sure he lied, but we're pretty sure, so Joe had a good talk with him about telling the truth. I overheard some scripture and a prayer. Afterward Joe and I talked about how he has figured out there are other answers than the truth. He has tasted the fruit.

Fast-forward to yesterday. During nap time I heard some commotion, but by the time I went to check both boys were back in their beds. I asked if they had gotten up and Luca immediately said, "Not me!" I took this for the truth since it is usually Tizzy getting up and decided to just let them be since they were currently laying in beds. Later Luca said he needed to use the potty, so I patrolled him to the bathroom, making sure he didn't get distracted. When I turned to leave he said, "Mommy, I'm sorry, I got out of bed. I'm a truth-teller; I tell the truth."

I said, "Okay buddy. Thanks for telling me. So, why did you get out of bed?" Pause.

Then came the icing on the cake. Slowly rolling out of his mouth, "Toooo... tell you I love you?" Said more as a question than a statement.

I can tell this concept of telling the truth is going to take a while to learn.
