What I love about short stories is that they allow the reader to be more imaginative and creative than they would have expected. With a short story, you can find yourself creating the history and future of the characters, and you're left thinking you're actually a pretty good author. Kazuo Ishiguro put together five short stories that are easy going down. This was the perfect bedtime book and NOT because it put me to sleep (because it didn't). It was entertaining, fairly light, but with moments of heartache and most of all I wanted to pick it up the following night. I don't know how he did it, but he managed to be the voice of musicians or music lovers from all walks of life and different countries. What I'm most excited about is I found another author I like who has a decent amount of books under his belt. So look out library, I have some holds to make! (And now I have officially written the dorkiest thing ever.)
